Everything flows

This morning, we received 4 packages from 3 different online retailers. This is not usually the case, but happens when you have 2 children at home.
Sure. 2 packages contained children's shoes and clothing. A third package had headphones for my son. The fourth one was well-packed and contained household items as well as fresh groceries. It was a test order that was individually cut into slices for us. Everything came on time, fitted perfectly and was liked. There was no need for any returns.
The probability is 100 per cent. The hoodie that my son ordered came from the USA and landed in the International Postal Center (IPZ) at Frankfurt Airport - our systems are there. He ordered the headphones from the market leader in online retail. They use Bizerba logistics systems in their fulfilment centres along the entirety of their supply chain
My daughter found her trainers on Europe's largest online fashion retailer. They are also a customer that uses our services. The KEP service provider that delivered the packages have integrated Bizerba components within their intralogistics. This also applies to all service providers that operate worldwide, including the largest parcel service in China.
Our commitment started in the KEP sector in 1993. We supplied over 40,000 of our accurate letter and parcel scales to Deutsche Post branches across the country. Now it's far more than that. The next step featured system integrators, which were also well received due to Bizerba's quality and precision. They ordered components for large picking and sorting centres and remain a partner of ours to this day
Acquiring e-commerce customers was the next logical step for Bizerba. We are now well established in the sector. It has continued to develop. This also applies to our logistics solutions. For example, we have specially developed a dynamic continuous scale that provides accurate results even at speeds of up to 3.1m/s. We provide answers in the light of such change. That is also a reason why Bizerba's solutions can be found in distribution and sorting centres all over the world.
We all experience the challenges that this extremely dynamic, growing market has seen over the last few years. As a result of digitalisation, over-the-counter trade is increasingly merging with e-commerce. Online-offline hybrids are becoming more common. National borders are disappearing due to networking and cross-border business. Online retail is becoming increasingly global. New technologies are opening up ever more possibilities. They also change purchasing behaviour.
One example is the annual Global Shopping Festival in China: at least 800 million people have taken advantage of this event in 2020. The top value of this promotion was 583,000 online orders per minute. 56 billion dollars of turnover were achieved. This also showed the latest purchasing trend:
everything must be available all the time, and right now. New product groups such as furniture or fresh food are now part of the constantly changing product ranges offered by online retailers. End customers have an increasing number of options for receiving their package precisely where they want it.
End customers also expect ever shorter delivery times. Same Day Delivery appears well on the way to becoming the new delivery standard. The fresh food sector, a segment in which we are extremely active for both national and international retail customers with, for example, our rollbox loading stations, is seeing instant delivery as a trend. What does this all mean for the industry?
The logistics is increasingly complex. Delivery speeds and package volumes are increasing, as are flows of goods. This increases the cost pressure. For our customers and partners this means one thing: they require reliable and fast delivery. The whole chain must be in order - from the supplier to the KEP service provider. This is precisely what our solutions support.
Sure. Reliability and control are two efficient ways of ensuring that the supply chain runs smoothly. If that works, profitability also increases. A key aspect is avoiding returns
Today, in our packages, we received the exact goods we ordered. We also received them at the time and place where we wanted them. This was made possible because, amongst other things, our systems checked the weight during picking, applied the correct dispatch label and transferred all data about the consignment with a DWS system to the WMS system in a single step.
The freight paperwork was prepared, the verified data was made available to the KEP service provider digitally. Retailers and shipping providers have full control of goods and costs. If there are inconsistencies, then multiple checks along the delivery chain ensure that everything is in order - revenue recovery at its best. Coming back to the supply chain:
This path I have outlined covers how accurate logistics solutions ensure that the correct goods were delivered to us today at the first attempt. This is increasingly important when considering rising raw material costs and increasingly scarce resources.
That is correct. Traffic is increasing everywhere worldwide, in towns and cities, and the risk of traffic jams rises with it. As you would expect, the growing e-commerce sector is contributing to this. Municipal planners are developing new, sustainable concepts to handle this increase in traffic. This will hopefully mean - unlike what happened to us yesterday - that only one deliverer comes to us instead of 3. Recently, a separate traffic lane was built in Singapore just for delivery robots. This is another way to avoid a standstill. We will only find out in the future if this is sufficient on its own.
We are a solution provider that offers customers products and services from a single source. We do this worldwide. This means we can offer our customers the availability they need to manage their business profitably. From the very beginning. We advise our customers, on site if necessary, how our solutions can be ideally integrated into their logistics chains. The Bizerba Application Management Team creates customised solutions that are based on throughput and speed.
Our customers appreciate the quality and precision of Bizerba solutions. However, they equally appreciate the certainty we provide that in the event of a standstill, we can quickly ensure that everything is moving smoothly once again. Alternatively, we provide regular maintenance to ensure that it doesn't come to a standstill in the first place.
Absolutely. And we have them. We are a global company that is directly present on site for our global customers with over 40 subsidiaries and representatives in 120 countries. Our worldwide service network has over 1,100 Bizerba technicians, 100 product specialists and around 300 technicians from our partners who are available 24/7. We follow the sun! This also applies to rapid logistics for spare parts that also works overnight. We invest in expertise, manpower, modern technology and infrastructure so that everything keeps moving just as it should for our customers.
