1
Hello, Anneke, would you tell us a bit about your work and your family's tradition in the fish trade?
Anneke de Jong |

My family has been in the fish business for generations. Even my grandparents sold their fresh catch every morning at the port. Today, I am the third generation to run our mobile stall here in this small fishing village on the North Sea. We sell fresh fish and seafood straight from the boat to our customers.

2
This sounds wonderful and very traditional. What role do hanging scales play in your business?
Anneke |

A very important role. Accurate weighing is crucial for us, especially with fresh fish and seafood. Customers expect fair prices and accurate quantities. We have been using Bizerba fish scales for a long time because they are reliable and robust.

3
What made you decide to switch to the new Q1 400 scale?
Anneke |

This new model has several advantages that really convinced us. Firstly, it is mobile because it has a rechargeable battery. This is perfect for us because we often sell at different locations and don't always have a power source available. Second, the cleaning of the suspended weighing platform is much easier compared to a regular commercial scale. And third, the scale is very accurate and versatile. We can also use them to weigh vegetables and other seasonal products from other manufacturers.

4
What other features of the Q1 400 do you appreciate?
Anneke |

The curved, suspended weighing plate is particularly important to us. This prevents liquids from running into or under the scale, which is often a problem with fish and seafood. This makes the scale more hygienic and durable. The Q1 400 is also very slim and easy to transport, which makes the daily assembly and disassembly easier for us.

5
How do your customers react to precise weighing and the new technology?
Anneke |

Our customers are very happy. They appreciate the precise measurement of the portions and the transparency we can offer them. Their confidence in our quality and fairness has grown even more as a result. Many are also curious and enthusiastic when they see how modern our equipment is. You know, old equipment is very icky when it comes to food.

6
How do you see the future of the mobile fish trade and what role will technologies such as the Q1 400 play?
Anneke |

I think the mobile fish trade has a future, especially if you focus on quality and sustainable fishing. Technologies like the Q1 fish scale will play a central role for us because it helps us to be more flexible. We can offer our customers fresh products directly and easily, which our customers always appreciate.

7
Thank you, Anneke, for this insightful interview. We wish you and your family continued success in selling fish.
Anneke |
